Hop on by for delicious sweet and savoury vegetarian delights!

Tucked away in an unassuming building on Esquimalt Road is Bunny’s Kitchen Café, a hidden gem that is gaining much popularity as the place to go for a delicious vegan or vegetarian meal, served by friendly staff in an efficient manner.

Bunny’s has a gently ramped entrance into an unpretentious and welcoming space. When it comes to ordering, it’s counter service, but once placed, your food is often brought to you at your table. In fact, if you do happen to be a person who uses a mobility device, staff are very accommodating, and I’d say with confidence (and experience) that your food will be brought to your table.

For seating there are half a dozen tables and chairs, which are able to accommodate wheelchairs and scooters. The restaurant is not huge, but it’s definitely possible for myself, a person who uses a compact mobility scooter, to maneuver around the space. The washroom is very small so take my advice and make your bladder gladder 😉before you go - don’t drink tons while you’re there either!

While I am able to make my way around the space, a person using a large powerchair or a heavy duty scooter would likely feel pinched for space and so for that reason, I don’t recommend Bunny’s Kitchen and Café for an in-store visit. Fortunately Bunny’s does a full take-out service so that everyone gets to partake in the deliciousness!

With those all-important logistics behind us, at Bunny’s you’re in for a treat! The curated menu features different selections such as vegetarian and vegan breakfast wraps, salads, smoothies and juices. The emphasis is on fresh, healthy, organic food with plenty of veggies, tasty tofu and whole foods. Dressings and sauces are all made in-house. If it’s on special, you must try the vegan Buffalo Blue Cheese Wrap because it’s beyond amazing…. made with love and top quality ingredients, this wrap will have you orbiting around one of Saturn’s 83 moons! Another favourite is the vegan breakfast burrito, guaranteed to be a winner. I also love the rainbow salad that comes with a dressing so yummy I could drink it as a beverage! The desserts (all vegan) are beyond delectable with choices such as flavour-of-the-day cinnamon buns, cheesecake (made of whipped cashews!), brownies, yummo bars (made with local Fatso peanut butter) and many, many more, all delicious, all to-die-for.

Without further ado, here are the standard questions answered:

What I love about it:

Three way tie! Top-notch staff, fresh, tasty and healthy food, and the welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

Accessibility Features:

Honestly, everything that is within the power of the Bunny’s great staff is done extremely well (service, cleanliness, food flavour, atmosphere, value). What is tricky is that the space and bathroom is quite small, as mentioned above. The truth is, while I don’t make it happen often, I can make a bathroom viz work for me at Bunny’s because I have a very compact scooter - but don’t plan on it!

Final verdict:

Bunny’s is definitely off the beaten path, but I say unreservedly:

Go for it if your mobility device is small - enjoy!

Remember: the take out is delicious too!
