The Steamship Bar and Grill is located in the heritage steamship terminal in Victoria’s inner harbour, and if that doesn’t cause an immediate twig you might remember where the Royal London Wax Museum was. That’s the building, one of the most iconic in Victoria.

The view of the Empress Hotel and Causeway from the covered and heated patio is one of the best of the harbour. The building also boasts the Robert Bateman Art Gallery on the upper floor, well worth a visit in its own right; a wheelchair friendly space that can be accessed by elevator. The Gallery Shop on the ground floor offers Robert Bateman prints and merchandise, hand-picked crafts by local artisans and unique, nature-inspired souvenirs. Don’t miss it!

What I loved about it:

Beautiful dining space, with attentive service and delicious food. The restaurant is fully accessible with a wide ramp, spacious yet cosy eating area, and fresh,  healthy modern food.

Accessibility Features:

Great accessible features within the restaurant and gallery including a spacious wheelchair friendly bathroom and wheelchair access to the patio.

Note: there is only on-street parking available (90 minutes) on Belleville Street, which fills up quickly. If planning on being longer, there’s underground pay parking available across the street at the Hotel Grand Pacific. Be aware and plan before you go.

A passenger loading zone exists on Belleville Street, directly in front of the building.

There is an elevator up to the gallery on the 2nd floor.

Final Verdict:

An absolute must do for tourists and locals alike, the Steamship Bar and Grill offers up super tasty food for lunch and dinner in a beautiful nautical atmosphere with Victoria’s most stunning harbour view.

Perfect paired with a stop in at the Robert Bateman Art Gallery, or a saunter along the inner harbour causeway with a coffee in hand via the wheelchair ramp in front of the building.
