The Pink Bicycle

Feeling like a tasty lunch, a friend and I stopped into the Pink Bicycle gourmet burger joint and had what I consider to be Victoria’s most fantastic and scrumptious burger by far!

ATMOSPHERE & ACCESSIBILITY

Before I delve into specifics, let me start by saying the Pink Bike is not a large restaurant, but it has a funky atmosphere, and the staff are extremely friendly and happy to accommodate wheelchairs and scooters by moving chairs and tables around. It has a level entrance, with not very many tables inside, but a couple of tables outside on the sidewalk.

The washroom, while having an awesome zebra-striped toilet and great chalkboard graffiti, is not wheelchair accessible. It has a level entrance but to access it one has to squeeze past a very narrow opening beside the bar, and around a tight corner into the small washroom space. I suggest going with an empty bladder and not drinking a ton while there — trust me, the experience of the food and ambience is worth it.

FOOD & DRINKS

The restaurant specializes in burgers and fries, but salads are also available (mouthwatering onion rings and poutine, too!). I was having a weak moment so I started with an incredible cocktail called the Pink Bike Martini which propelled me into top form instantly, LOL! There is a nice selection of beverages beyond the delish martini I indulged in, so there are plenty of options for whatever you like.

There is an amazing selection of burgers and I ordered the Black Bean Veggie Burger with a Pear and Spinach salad. It was absolutely delectable. My friend had the Blue Cheese Lamb burger with the house salad on the side, and loved it as well. Both of us could only eat half of our burgers as they are so large, and happily brought the leftovers home for lunch the next day (or for hungry fridge scroungers).

The Pink Bicycle was voted Best in City for Best Burger in 2009, 2010, and 2011!

Another point worth mentioning is that all ingredients are locally sourced, seasonal, and prepared with love!

VERDICT

Overall fabulous experience, would go back again! Delicious food, one crazy martini, and wonderful service. Use the bathroom before you arrive!
